At the time of the mining boom Tuckingmill was a distinct town, separate from Camborne, in the centre of the Camborne & Redruth mining area. A range of industries servicing the mines grew up there from the earliest times right through to the 1990s. The Red River Valley had a network of mills, tin streaming, and arsenic works.
Tuckingmill was the site of a number of manufacturing industries sevicing the mining industry. Some of the best known companies in Cornwall – as well as Bennets there were Holmans, Bickford-Smith, Vivians, Bartles, the Climax Rock Drill company. A number of their buildings still survive through to today.
Bennets Fuseworks was one of these service industries. The Lidl supermarket is now to be found in the old Bennets Fuseworks site
