How to get to Cornwall

Not as daft a question as it may seem. I am always getting questions about travelling here.

Now for a few of the answers :-

By Car

• It is really a straight belt down the Motorways - the M5 from Bristol to Exeter
• Then the A30 which is a fast dual carriageway to Cornwall
• It runs along the northern edge of Dartmoor, then across Bodmin Moor
• For Newquay, get off the A30 at the Indian Queens junction

• To Compute the time to drive here take the time you need to drive to Bristol
• Then on an about two and a half hours to get from Bristol to Newquay
• That is about 145 miles in even time on fast roads

• I found a really nifty site by RAC that gives you tailor made jouney times by car from anywhere in Europe

By Train

• There is a fast train service from Paddington and other Main Line stations to Penzance.
• There are also branch lines to Newquay and St Ives
• For Newquay change at St Austell Par station

Coach

If you are coming from afar by coach, you will need National Express

The local operator is Western National who run regular local busses throughout Cornwall

Also each holiday town will offer various excursions by coach for a day or half day

For example from Newquay you can go to St Ives, Mevagissey, Padstow, the Lost Gardens of Heligan and many others

Air

• Ryan Air fly twice daily to Newquay from Stansted with cut price flights

• AirSouthwest flies to Newquay from London Gatwick

• AirSouthwest also flies to Newquay from Bristol, Dublin, Leeds Bradford, Manchester and Cardiff

• BmiBaby fly from Newquay from Durham Tees Valley and Manchester

• Flybe.com fly to Newquay from Edinburgh

• AerArann flies to Newquay from Cork & Luton

• Corisande Manor hotel is only 5 or 6 miles from Newquay Airport

• Either try a local firm when you get here

• Or book with one of the big national companies in advance
