Camborne School of Mines is today a department of the School of Geography, Archaeology and Earth Resources (SoGAER) at Exeter University.The department's site covers the work of the university today in teaching and researching mining.
It was founded in 1888 and has an international reputation. The school became known throughout the global minerals industry, with many students now coming from Australia, South Africa, Canada, and the USA.
With significant international capital investment, the school relocated from Camborne to a new state of the art campus in CSM moves to the Tremough Campus in Penryn in 2004. It is an important institution in minerals-related research.
