The Championship course was laid out by Harry Colt, who also
laid out Muirfeild, Lytham St Annes, Pine Valley, Wentworth and Sunningdale.
The Championship course has various amounts of difficulty that will appeal to
all players from the professional to the high handicapper. The Course has four
sets of tees, blue (championship), white (men's day), yellow (men's medal) and
red (ladies).
The wind on all the Trevose courses can often play a major part and prevent
low scoring (the course record is 66). There are many well positioned bunkers
and a stream follows much of the Course.
The fairways are wide and links-like texture, making for easy walking. The rough
is kept short to ensure that balls can be found and that play keeps moving.
All the large greens have automatic computerised watering and have typical links
undulations and burrows that are not easy to read. There's only one blind spot
on the course, so it is a fair tests of golf.
The New 9 Hole Course was opened in 1993 by Peter Alliss. This course is environmentally friendly and has a natural layout. At 3000 yards with a par of 35 it is a real test of golf. Every hole is well landscaped and from the 5th tee the view along the coastline is outstanding.
The short 9 Hole Course has been here for over 30 years and is an excellent test for the beginner, or indeed experienced golfers who need to practice their iron play. It is well maintained, new tees have been constructed, and all the greens have automatic computerised watering.
